DEVOTIONS AND PRAYER: Led by Lynn Warso
MINUTES: Minutes from the November meeting were read by each person in attendance. A motion was made by Sylvia Sumner and seconded by Sue Wilber to accept the minutes. Motion carried.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Diney Robinson presented the report. $2349.00 was spent on Christmas gifts for 36 children. There is a current balance of $8866.27. A motion was made by Carole Frank and seconded by Marty Willard that the money from the sale of the IBM shares be put into an easy access CD account. Motion carried.
Introductions: Since there were new faces it was suggested that those present introduce themselves, state their home town, and their church affiliation.
OLD BUSINESS:
- Lynn Warso will do a presentation at St. James Episcopal Church on December 28.
- No progress on the storage facility.
- There was a good response to the Christmas letter sent out requesting monetary donations. The donations were sufficient to purchase the Christmas gifts for 36 children. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped with the shopping and the wrapping of gifts. There is still a need for volunteer help on Dec.18 and Dec.19.
- Carl Matteson and Diney Robinson did a presentation in Dauphin County. They will be having a Day Fair in March and we will have a informational booth set up there.
- Holy Child Catholic Church collected blankets, sheets and food in December. They will focus on diapers and cleaning supplies for January.
NEW BUSINESS:
1. There are 18 volunteers for the Prayer Team. Prayer requests will be e-mailed to them monthly..
2. We still are in need of coordinators for the following volunteer groups: Family issues, donations, clerical
3. There is a great need for transportation for clients and families. This requires availability and commitment to drive them to appointments, family visits, etc. More information will be provided next month.
Update on Families:
#142-08- Firewood or furnace repair.
#147-08- Security gate for porch – still working on it
#149-08- Westfield family-request for gas cards-we need more details, help with utilities
#161-08- Piping for wood stove- we paid for code inspection
#153-08- paint chipping in home-needs 5 gallon white and six gallons pink paint, family will do the painting, this is a rental property. Request denied, paint not available
#154-08- Request for dumpster. We do not provide dumpsters so requested that the caseworker determine how many garbage bags would be needed and we can take them to the transfer station.
#166-08: Westfield family –needs a crib- need was met
Request from Laurel Home Health: need was met.
Requests for December:
A family is requesting three dressers.
Request for a dorm size refrigerator-will send this need out on e-mail to see if anyone has one available.
Angel Food- need to order 1
Emergency Food Closet – Good supply at present time
Diapers- need all sizes except size 2
Bedding- need for pillows and double size mattress pads
There is an ongoing need for good used appliances and used furniture. We can not use sofa beds.
The next meeting will be on January 21,2009. Saunders’ will do devotions.
