November 19,2008

            In attendance: Diny Robinson, Carl Matteson, Dick Frank, Bob Strozyk, Pat Pendergast, Rosalie Connelly, Maxine Mills, Karen Plumley, Rose Benson, Sylvia Sumner, Sue Wilber, Larry Miller 1, Lynn Warso, Carol Campbell, Sue Heyler
 
DEVOTIONS AND PRAYER: Led by Sue Wilber

MINUTES: Minutes from the October meeting were read by each person in attendance. The minutes were approved with the following addition.. The meeting was called to order by Vice President Diny Robinson.

TREASURER’S REPORT: Carl Matteson presented the report. Currently we have a balance of $10,099.27 in the checking account.

Introductions: Since there were new faces it was suggested that those present introduce themselves, state their home town, and their church affiliation.

OLD BUSINESS:

  1. St James Episcopal Church in Mansfield has requested  that someone from SOHP contact them about doing a presentation at their church.
  2. Storage- currently utilizing a building at Tioga County Fair Grounds. The storage facility donated by Gary Butters is hoped to be completed by Christmas.
  3. Maxine Mills has completed a rough draft of the volunteer list. The list includes name, address, home and cell phone numbers, e-mail, church affiliation and areas of interest.
  4. A letter will be sent to those who have volunteered to make donations to inform them of our need for donations for Christmas. Shopping for the gifts will be done the week after Thanksgiving. Many people present volunteered to help with the shopping. Help is also needed to wrap the gifts. Loretta Eaton will be contacted for the dates and SOHP members will be contacted.

NEW BUSINESS:
1. Carl Matteson and Diny Robinson will be going to Dauphin County to give a presentation about       Seeds of Hope Partners.
2. Several afghans have been donated to SOHP.
3. Holy Child Catholic Church in Mansfield would like to do a monthly project for SOHP. We will       notify them monthly about a need that they can help with. Rosalie volunteered to help deliver the       items to the Agency.

Update on Families:
#142-08- Firewood or furnace repair. Mike Seidel will assess the situation
#147-08- Security gate for porch-ask caseworker to evaluate situation and see if it can be done with regular gates
#149-08- Westfield family-request for gas cards-we need more details
#161-08- Piping for wood stove- Al Richner assigned

 

 

 

 

Requests for November:
#153-08- paint chipping in home-needs 5 gallon white and six gallons pink paint, family will do the             painting, this is a rental property. A motion was made to see if a previous offer for paint is still             available . If not we will deny the request.
#154-08- Request for dumpster. We do not provide dumpsters so requested that the caseworker determine             how many garbage bags would be needed  and we can take them to the transfer station.
Emergency need: Westfield family –needs a crib- a motion was made by Sue Wilber and seconded by                 Sylvia Sumner that we provide a crib and bedding. Motion carried. There is a crib at the storage                facility which will be tested for safety. If not usable we will purchase a crib.

Request from Laurel Home Health: Diny will check to see if the family has a caseworker. We will meet             this need as it is a safety issue involving young children in the home.

Angel Food- need to order 1
Emergency Food Closet – In need of any and all items, especially cereal, canned meats and entrees.

Diapers- Okay at present.

 

Bradford County Chapter of SOHP:
            They have been making deliveries and are planning to do a newsletter.

 

The next meeting will be on December 17, 2008. Larry Miller 1 will do devotions.
