Seeds Of Hope Partners
August 20 ,2008
Seeds of Hope Partners met with employees of the Human Services Agency for a picnic at 5:00 on August 20, 2008. As introductions were made the Agency thanked the volunteers of Seeds of Hope Partners for all the work that we do to help the families. SOHP and the Agency are a family working together to serve children in Tioga County.
DEVOTIONS AND PRAYER: Led by Carole Frank
MINUTES: Motion by Dick Frank and seconded by Marty Willard to accept the minutes.
TREASURER’S REPORT: There is a balance of $2420.81 in the regular account. In addition there is a CD of $4200.00 and we have the shares of IBM stock. The bank has called and suggested that we liquefy the stock as soon as possible. The value is presently around $6000.00. A motion was made by Larry Miller 2 and seconded by Dick Frank that we liquefy and put the money into an easy access CD.
OLD BUSINESS:
- The clothing give-away was a success. There was a good supply and many families came to get clothing. The leftover clothing was given to the Seventh Day Adventist Church to be used in their clothing give-away. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped with this project.
- We have a new storage facility at a barn on Charleston Road. The tenants will take care of lawn mowing and snow removal. There will be a work bee on September 20th to move the inventory to the new facility. Twelve to fifteen volunteers are needed to help. Also someone willing to provide lunch would be appreciated. Contact Carl Matteson for more information.
- The food pantry is in need of canned entrees and meats, pasta and rice. A motion was made by Larry Miller 2 and seconded by Rosalie Connelly that we purchase two boxes of Angel Food. There is a misunderstanding in the community that we are in competition with the local food pantries. We need to assure people that we have a food closet for emergency needs and they still need to support the food pantries in their communities.
- Randy Brewer has updated the volunteer information.
- There is a need for all sizes of diapers. SOHP will purchase them.
NEW BUSINESS:
- New officers will be elected in September
