Seeds Of Hope Partners
July 16 ,2008
DEVOTIONS AND PRAYER: Led by Carole Frank
MINUTES: Motion by Rosalie Connelly and seconded by Larry Miller 2 to accept the minutes.
TREASURER’S REPORT: There is a balance of $2118.63 in the regular account. In addition there is a CD of $4200.00 and we have the shares of IBM stock.
OLD BUSINESS:
- The paperwork for the gift of the IBM shares is completed. A decision on what to do with the stock was tabled until next month. Suggestions were made to sell the stock when it gets back to the price where we received it or to hang on to the stock until we use the money in the CD.
- We are still in need of a barn for storage. Several possibilities are being checked out. Furniture pick-ups are on hold until we get another storage facility. If Larry Miller 1 sells his property he will discuss with the buyers the possibility of Seeds of Hope Partners still using the barn for storage.
- There are no current needs for the food and diaper closets.
- Maxine Mills and Randy Brewer(an intern with Human Services) are working on contacting volunteers to see if they are still interested.
- The clothing give-away is scheduled for August 12 and 13 at the United Methodist Church in Wellsboro. The clothes will be sorted on August 9 starting at 10:30 and August 11 starting at 9:00. Volunteers are needed for all of these days. Sue will send an e-mail requesting volunteers and giving the information about the giveaway. Donations of clothing are also needed. Contact Carl Matteson about having the clothing picked up. An ad will be put in the Penny Saver and Valley Dollar Saver.
NEW BUSINESS:
- New officers will be elected in September. Carl Matteson and Maxine Mills volunteered to be on the nominating committee.
- We need a volunteer who would be willing to organize the food cupboard every week or two
- Caseworkers need to be made aware of the availability of food in the food closet and also in the freezer where the Angel Food items are stored.
- Could a representative from Seeds of Hope Partners be involved in the training of new caseworkers to make them more aware of what we offer them?
