DEVOTIONS AND PRAYER: Led by Maxine Mills
MINUTES: Motion by Dick Frank and seconded by Lisa Wood to accept the minutes.
TREASURER’S REPORT: The current balance is $2,594.49 In addition we have a $5,000 CD.
OLD BUSINESS:
- The response to the request for Beds-In-A-Bag has been great. Many of the churches are giving for the first time.
- Sue Wilber and Carole Frank assembled a window display at Cole’s Pharmacy in Mansfield. A banner for SOHP was purchased to be used with this display and is available to anyone to use for window displays, at churches etc. The cost of the banner was $151.40 and half of the purchase price has currently been covered by donations.
- Carl will be meeting with Sue Young and Howard Travis to set up training for the Speaker’s Bureau.
- The food closet is in need of canned fruits and vegetables, juices and cereal. The freezer was full so no Angel Food boxes were purchased this month.
- The diaper closet is in need of size 4 diapers.
- Bradford County is doing well.
NEW BUSINESS:
- Carl will be speaking about SOHP at the Mansfield Senior Center. A request was received from Andy McIlvain, pastor of Sullivan Sate Road Baptist Church to have a speaker for their Spring Gathering on April 27th. Sue Wilber and Sylvia Sumner will do this.
- Betty Frazier will do an article on SOHP in her Reflections Column in the Wellsboro Gazette in the near future.
- Carole Frank will represent SOHP at a Family Group Decision Making meeting. Their mission is to partnership with families to help find workable solutions and goals toward safety, well being and permanency for all children.
- A letter was read from Jan Fisher, Laurel Health Systems, thanking SOHP for our assistance in helping the family who was in need of a wood burning stove. A thank you was also received from the family.
- Thank you from a family who received bunk beds.
- Dawn Bell at the thrift shop at St. Paul Episcopal Church in Wellsboro has offered to provide clothing to SOHP when needed.
Update on families:
Requests for families 001-08 - 021-08 have been completed with the exception of 016-08(see below).
Families for January:
016-08- Antrim family- need $50.00 for dumpster for trash removal. Family will pay additional $50.Motion by Maxine Mills, seconded by Lisa Wood. Approved
023-08- Mansfield family- need food scale for child with special food needs. Motion by Sue Wilber, second by Larry Miller 2, approved.
025-08- Mansfield family- needs car seat, clothing for 12 month old girl. Maxine mills made motion, second by Rosalie Connelly to purchase car seat. Approved
029-08 - Westfield family- needs plywood to make stairway safe for child, consensus to approve this request when caseworker confirms the family owns the home
030-08 – Westfield family needs vacuum cleaner, Motion by Lisa wood, second by Sue Wilber, approved.
031-08 & 032-08- Mansfield and Middlebury families requesting travel expenses to Erie for family visits. A suggestion was made that the caseworker contact EMTA to see if they can contract privately with them. We would like further information on the dates and if travel can be coordinated for both families at the same time. We also could offer to help them with food so they can save their money for travel expenses.
The next meeting will be on March 19, 2008. Carole Frank will have devotions.
