Seeds Of Hope Partners January 16,2008 DEVOTIONS AND PRAYER: Led by Rosalie Connelly. MINUTES: Motion by Sue Wilber and seconded by Carol Campbell to accept the minutes. TREASURER’S REPORT: The current balance is $4,067.74 In addition we have a $5,000 CD. We received an inquiry about helping with the cost of replacing an outside wood furnace for a single mother with five children. The officers of SOHP were notified and agreed to contribute up to $1200.00 towards the cost. We paid $1078.00 to help with the cost of the furnace. OLD BUSINESS: 1. There has been no further contact from Clarion county at this time. 2. The letters requesting bedding have been sent to all churches in the county and this has had positive results with bedding coming in promises that more will be coming soon. 3. There has been no date set for the training of volunteers for the Speaker’s Bureau. Howard Travis and Sue Young have offered to help with the training for public speaking. 4. The food closet has just received a large quantity of food and is full for now. To clarify last month’s discussion about the purchase of food, it was decided that Carol Campbell will look at the food supply every month after Angel Food purchases are received. Non-perishables will be purchased as needed to maintain the supply. 5. The diaper closet has a good supply. 6. Bradford County is doing well.
NEW BUSINESS: 1. A discussion was held on what we can do to help the volunteer drivers. Some of them are spending large amounts to their own money to make deliveries. A motion was made by Dick Frank and seconded by Marty Willard that we offer them a $50.00 gas card every six months.(January1st and July1st). Motion carried. 2. A motion was made by Maxine Mills and seconded by Marty Willard that we increase the amount that the volunteer contractors can spend on projects from $300.00 to $500.00. Motion carried 3. Sue Wilber and Carole Frank will work on a window display about Seeds of Hope Partners to be placed in the window at Cole’s Pharmacy in Mansfield. 4. The Agency has requested that we let people know that clothing is NOT to be dropped off at the Agency. They have no place to store it.
Update on families: #106- The car was never taken to Tyoga Transmission for an estimate- case closed #146R- leaky roof-they are getting an estimate. #150, #156, #157-cancelled #153- Westfield family- home inspection requested by the court has been completed, results are unknown #154- completed #155- completed Families for January: 001-08- needs toddler bed frame, one set bunk beds 002-08- Mansfield family- needs baby monitor, bathtub ring, vacuum cleaner 003-08 Blossburg family- needs sofa, coffee table, end table, 3 dressers, gate for around furnace, kitchen table and chairs, sheets for a double bed The next meeting will be on February 20, 2008.
