OLD BUSINESS:
The committee met to discuss the grant application for the Make it Your Own Awards from the Case Foundation. They have developed a list of goals if SOHP is granted the award. A decision of the top 100 applicants will be made the week of Sept.10th. The goals include:
1.      Employ a staff person part time to coordinate referrals.
2.      Purchase or build a storage facility.
3.      Provide transportation for families.
4.      Establish a fund for monthly allotment for food, diapers, hygiene and cleaning supplies.
5.      Establish a fund for recreational requests for camp, pool passes, taking families on picnics, amusement parks.
6.      Develop a scholarship fund.

There is currently a good supply of food in the freezer. The food cupboard is still in need of any non-perishable foods. Diapers are needed in sizes 2-5. After discussion a motion was made by Maxine Mills and seconded by Sylvia Sumner that we order $100 of diapers from diapers.com. The motion carried.

The Bradford County chapter of SOHP has done a brochure, a master list of churches and has the possibility of two storage facilities. They picked up beds, dressers and desks from MU.

Bucks County has requested information about our program as a result of Diney and Carl’s presentation.

Diney reported that those who have completed the mentor training are ready to be matched with a family.

Deb Casey , the Protestant Campus minister at MU shared that the students do a spring break project every year. In 2008 they would like to do a local project with SOHP, if we are willing to provide skilled people to supervise. The dates are March 6-8.

The need to resume informational meetings throughout the county was discussed. There are many people who still do not know about Seeds of Hope. Possible methods were discussed: mission moments in churches, presentations at service organizations, a booth at the fair, train speakers for a Speaker’s Bureau.

Term of SOHP officers- should we limit their term of office? On discussion it was decided that the current officers will be asked by the nominating committee if they are willing to stay on. Carol will appoint a nominating committee to report at the September meeting.

Update on families:

#58-07- Auto repairs- we will not be doing auto repairs, we will either purchase bus tickets or pay the gas money to have her ride with another family.
