Seeds Of Hope Partners
July 18, 2007
Our annual picnic was held for Seeds of Hope Members and their families. Several caseworkers and Agency representatives were in attendance. Patty thanked Seeds of Hope for all of ways that they have enabled the Agency to help families and children in Tioga County. Without our help many of the needs would not be met. Ruth Stratton an intern with the agency also thanked us and gave everyone a survival packet.
Sharon Rawson, Larry Miller 1 and Larry’s grandchildren had the entertainment and led us in a sing-a-long which was enjoyed by everyone.
DEVOTIONS AND PRAYER: Led by Carl Matteson
MINUTES: Motion by Diana Robinson and seconded by Carol Campbell to accept the minutes.
TREASURER’S REPORT: We have a balance of $2362.79 in addition to our CD.
OLD BUSINESS:
Bradford County Seeds of Hope Partners Chapter: They had 15-20 people at their meeting and are currently working to develop a network of churches, write brochures and start their treasury.
Update on presentation: Diney and Carl reported on their presentation at the state roundtable with Justice Baer. Even though Seeds of Hope wasn’t chosen as one of the programs they were very impressed with their presentation and feel that other counties will show an interest in starting similar programs.

NEW BUSINESS:
A discussion was held on applying for a grant from the Case Foundation.
The Case Foundation (http://www.casefoundation.org/) in Washington , D.C. , has announced that it will let the public play a direct role in determining how some of its grants dollars are allocated, the New York Times reports. To that end, the foundation will ask individuals and local non-profit groups to send it ideas for improving their communities by August 8. A panel of judges will then select a hundred of the most interesting ideas and ask for a more formal proposal. From that pool, another panel of judges will select twenty proposals, each of which will receive $20,000. Finally, in November, the foundation will invite the public to vote on the proposals, with the four receiving the most votes being awarded an additional $25,000. "We aren't looking for the most professional presentation or the best use of multisyllabic words," said Jean Case, who with her husband, America Online founder Steve Case, started the foundation in 1997. "We're looking for the best ideas."
Lynn Warso, Diana Robinson, Carol Frank, Carol Campbell and Jenny Farrer have agreed to serve on a committee to work on this project and report back at our next meeting.
Families for July: No new families were presented

The next meeting will be on August 15. Carol Campbell will have devotions.
