A lengthy discussion was held on ways that we can expand our ministry.
1. Expand food support- A motion was made by Lisa Wood and seconded by Diana Robinson that Seeds of Hope Partners will purchase a new, energy efficient freezer to be placed at the Agency. This will enable us to purchase Angel Food boxes and store the frozen foods so that food is readily available when there is an emergency need.

The other suggestions were put on hold until the April meeting. We were once again encouraged to talk to others about these ideas and to pray for God’s guidance as we seek ways to expand our ministry.

Listed below are the other ideas that have been presented and some concerns that were raised.

2.Emergency Housing- We pay the rent and utilities for a limited amount of time for families in need of emergency housing because of fires or other situations. Diana Robinson said that we will need to be very cautious in our decision to do this and that the families will need to know that this offer is only temporary. Seeds of Hope will not be signing any contracts.
The trailer that Seeds of Hope owns in the Mansfield area is now vacant. It needs to be cleaned and then could be made available for another family to rent or we could sell the trailer. No decision was made.

3. Vehicle Maintenance-
We would provide light to medium vehicle maintenance. Is the garage at the agency available one Saturday a month for this purpose? Is there personnel available to do this work?

4. Expansion of our outreach-
A letter for Laurel Home Health/ Hospice was read concerning a few ways     that we could help to serve the elderly, especially those who may not be eligible for other programs. Suggested needs were minor home repairs, baby monitors for use by caregivers and microwaves. Larry Miller will discuss this further with Sherry Bodine. If we decide to do this it will require a change in our bylaws as they presently state that we will serve children and their families.

Another suggestion was that we could expand our ministry with the Agency to include the Mental Health population.

All of the above suggestions will require us to recruit more people to help meet these needs.

Rev. Case closed the meeting with prayer. The next meeting will be held April 18,2007. Larry Miller 1 will have devotions.
