Christmas greetings! Our meeting will be Dec. 21, 2005 at 7:00 pm at the Human Service Agency in Wellsboro, Pa.

Seeds of Hope Minutes November 16, 2005

Scripture & Prayers were led.

Minutes were approved as submitted.

Treasurer's Report: None available

Larry reported that $831.00 was raised at the community hymn sing. In addition an anonymous $500. was given, as well as two $100. gifts.

Old Business:

Mentor Training Update: Dr. Nancy Sidell from Mansfield University has agreed to do the training. She expects to do it the first of the year.

Ameri-Corp Vista Volunteer Update: None given

Update on Families Presented:

#101- needs site visit
#102 - still looking for carpet
#103 - family moved from the state
#104 - being assigned to Mick for site visit.
#105 & 106 - need site visits

New Business:

Lion's Club Party: Carole asked if the Lion's Club could adopt some children to take to the Christmas party on Dec. 19th. Diny said that some could go as long as a caseworker went along.

Wellsboro High School National Honor Society: A student, Josh ?, from the National Honor Society came to the meeting to see if their organization would be able to help SOHP in any way. Some ideas suggested to him were: Play games or do other activities with children Collect diapers, cleaning supplies, food, mittens, hats, etc.

Diny reported that 60+ families have asked for Thanksgiving dinners this year.

Mission Central Items: Marty reported that Mission Central has extra cleaning supplies and personal care items, so she is going to pick up a van load when she goes to MC this week.

Dressers Donated: Someone saw an advertisement that Mansfield University was going to be auctioning off some dressers. We were able to get 41 dressers donated to SOHP.

New Families for November:

#107: High Chair needed - Carole offered to take care of it. #108: clothing - size 3 shirts hats & mittens
#109: Mansfield-single mom needs a crib
#110: Mansfield- single mom 5 year old daughter, 6 year old son Needs clothes - size 7 pants, size 8 shirts
#111: Mansfield - 2 children ages 2 & 13 Someone needs to look at the furnace, 2 broken windows
#112: Mansfield - Need help fixing roof; shelves for tools
#113: Middlebury - Needs a new refrigerator - there is one at the barn
#114: 3 trees fell on the home Soon after that the mother and youngest child died in an accident.
#115: Middlebury - 6 children. Needs 1 set of bunk beds and sheets
#116: Mansfield - Trailer had been given to a family. That family lost their children so left the area. The trailer was infested with roaches. SOHP was able to get an exterminator for $50. A new family has moved in and is paying $100/mo without interest. After 3 years of payment, the trailer will be theirs. Needs 2 dressers & crib mattress.
#117: Emergency!! Joel went on a site visit. This case was a priority because the gas had been off a year, and the electricity was ready to be turned off. The house is in bad shape. The dad has medical problems.

Devotions for the December meeting will be given by Sue.

Diny suggested that everyone bring some snacks to the meeting.

Prayer Requests: Cindy , Rosalee's sister-in-law, the SOHP family in the accident, Mansfield trailer family, Sue's son-in-law in Kosovo, Diny's son in Afghanistan, SOHP families, food banks, Sue's brother-in-law
