Human Services Agency JANUARY 19, 2005, Wellsboro, Pa. Next meeting of SOHP will be held on Feb. 16, 2005 at 7:00 pm. at the Human Service Building in Wellsboro, Pa. Scripture and prayer Minutes approved as presented. Treasurer's Report: OLD BUSINESS: The AmeriCorp Vista Volunteermight not be able to receive training until April as present contract has not been renewed yet. Rep is working on speeding up the contract . Office space is still needed. Northern Tioga School District Teacher's Union donated $150.00 from their dress down day to SOHP. Storage area at the Baptist Church in Mansfield is being utilized for storingclothing and bedding. The need for diapers is still very important. Sizes needed are, 3, 4, and 5. The need to contact a factory for possible donations was discussed. About 25 bags of clothes were purchased at the NTCH at $5.00 a bag and was collected and dispersed to Seeds of Hope Partners families. The purchased diapers are all distributed. At this point there are not enough beds needed to have another Operation Bunkbed. The cost of lumber is rising and at Carolina Wholesale Furniture in Towanda a set of bunkbeds can be purchased at a comparable price of what it costs to make them. Community projects for our organization are important. Projects such as blanket and clothing drives were discussed as a way of empowering volunteers. Update on Families: Families # 2, 3, 4,10, 12, 13, have not had the physical needs met. #8 thermostat installed and transformer replaced NEW BUSINESS: Mansfield University class, will meet with SOHP to develop a plan to raise public awareness of our organization. on Jan. 24, 2005. Carl Matteson will meet with 6 to 8 people at the Wellsboro United Methodist Church in Wellsboro to discuss developing a home repair and assessment team. These volunteers will go out and assess the needs of families presented. Items needed to add to our storage are twin blankets and comforters like new or new. Also needed are pillows and twin mattress pads. A communication link has been set up to assure an easy flow of needed items from caseworker to SOHP. Dinny will meet on Mondays with caseworkers to give referral forms and then the following Monday the completed referrals will be faxed to Carl Matteson. The following Tuesday will be the delivery day for SOHP . A report of activities done by SOHP during the month should be submitted to the secretary to include in the minutes so members are aware of what is being done for the SOHP families. Disposable cameras should be purchased to take pictures of different activities done. Larry and Marian Miller have volunteered to set up a SOHP website and fund it for a year. A meeting will be set up to organize this project. Carolina Wholesale Furniture 6 inch innerspring mattresses and boxsprings for $38.00. Ten sets have been ordered. They are willing to give us this price on a permanent basis as long as supply lasts. NOTE: ALL NEW FAMILIES WILL BE NUMBERED IN CONSECUTIVE ORDER STARTING WITH THE NUMBER 1 NEW FAMILIES: 1. Young man graduating from Mansfield High School in need of $32.86\ for cap and gown. Need taken care of. . Ten year old girl needs a size 16 child's winter coat, hats and mittens. 2. Troy Family needs hot water heater 3. Canton Family needs: Hot Water Heater, Toilets, Window Repair, Front Door. Willing to make repairs if supplies are provided 4. Mansfield Family needs refrigerator. Need taken care of. Devotions for the month of February will be led .
